Summertime Date Night Ideas
Summertime and the living's easy! There's something about the warm weather (especially after the winter we have had) that makes me itch to do something fun outside! I am putting together a list of the best date night ideas in KC this summer. Whether you are outdoorsy, boujee or anywhere in between, there is something for you on this list!
Picnic and Putt Putt at the Nelson: This one is actually on my summer bucket list! The Nelson Atkins Museum has an interactive art exhibit with 9 beautifully designed holes on their putt putt course. Pack a picnic with your SO and make an afternoon out of it!
Date Night at Starlight Theatre: Whether you prefer a concert or a musical/play, Starlight has you covered this summer. There's nothing more romantic than a night under the stars listening to your favorite band with your love.
Games and BBQ at Char Bar: I am competitive to a fault, so I love a good-natured rivalry date night! Play bocce ball, ping pong, or horseshoes and show your boyfriend or girlfriend you're still the athlete you were in high school.
Take in the views with a cocktail at El Percheron: Crossroads Hotel has been the talk of the town since they opened last year. Now with their rooftop you can see all the sights of KC while playing lawn games and enjoying a cocktail. Again, I love a competition based date so show your SO who's boss!
Kayak in the lake at Shawnee Mission: If you are at all outdoorsy, this is my favorite date idea. Get to the lake early, before it gets too hot or crowded and rent a couple kayaks to explore the park by water.
For the pet parents, take your fur children to Bar K: You can kill two birds with one stone. Rover can get worn out while you grab some yummy food and good beer. Plus you can never have too many puppies running around!
Drive In Movie with take out: I love to throw it back to a classic date night and go to a drive in theater. My favorite is B&B Theatres Twin Drive-In in Independence because you get to see two movies back to back! Bring your favorite movie treats and cozy up in the car for a perfect summer night.
For the foodies, go to Corvino Supper Club and get Bekah as your server - she is the best! The menu is to die for and the chef is world renowned. Get the seaweed donuts FOR SURE, and whatever else Bekah recommends!
KC Improv Company in Westport: The key to my heart is making me laugh (pretty sure I put that on a dating app back in the day!) so I love to see Improv. Make sure you have thick skin because the comedians have been known to pick you out of the crowd and have some fun at your expense!
Get dolled up and go to Green Lady Lounge or Black Dolphin for some live Jazz. I love paying homage to KC's roots and spending the evening drinking Vodka Collins' in the basement of Green Lady. The dimly lit space is perfect for a little romance.
