Top 5 Series: Best Burgers in KC

Top 5 Series: Best Burgers in KC

This week, The Pitch is doing burger week (read more here) and it has me thinking about my favorite burgers in town. So welcome to the newest addition to the Top Five Series - Burgers!

  1. Westport Flea Market - This is a staple in my family and I have been going there for years. It’s a no-frills, order at the counter type of place and their burgers are amazing. They use top quality beef and you can taste the difference, I promise. They’ve even been featured on The Food Network! If you’re lucky, you’ll see the car parked out front that’s shaped like a burger. You can’t miss it! I recommend going on Tuesday because their special is two for one Mini Market Burgers with curly fries aka my favorite meal.

  2. Tay’s Burger Shack - This burger has no business being this good. It’s my go-to hangover cure (and let’s be honest, that is necessary more days than I care to admit). It’s made with organic, grass fed beef and I am all of the sudden planning on heading here for lunch. Order the Tay’s Double with hand-cut fries.

  3. Corvino - Little known fact - Corvino actually has a late night menu starting at 10pm and their burgers are some of the best in town. The burger is topped with aioli, charred onions, pickles and muenster. It’s like an elevated big mac and it’s divine. Get that and the fries (and the seaweed donuts, and the oysters, and the pork ribs… well you get the picture).

  4. Chixen - This is not your average burger - it’s actually a chicken burger! If you’re thinking a boring chicken breast on a bun, you are so wrong. These burgers are made with housemade chicken patties and are topped with the freshest ingredients. My favorite is the Monarch Burger (1/2 lb Chixen Burger, Romaine Lettuce, Sliced Tomato, Caramelized Onions, Sliced Jalapenos, Beef Bacon, Cheddar Cheese, & Bourbon BBQ Sauce) but you can’t go wrong with anything on the menu!

  5. Christy’s Tasty Queen - Now you may know Christy’s for their tenderloin sandwiches, but their burgers are my favorite thing on the menu! It’s cheap, delicious, and it feels like you stepped back into the 50s. Get the double cheese, seasoned Suzy Qs, and a twist cone for the most perfect meal in town.

What did I miss? Comment and tell me your favorite burger in town!
