At Home Wine Tasting - With Missouri Wines

There is nothing I like better than a glass of wine after a hard day! Or a glass of wine after any day, really. I was so excited to team up with Missouri Wines on this at home wine tasting! I created a tasting mat for four, five, and six wines (depending on how many you want to serve) and you’ll find those free downloads below!

Missouri Wines sent over five wines from vineyards across the state and I hosted a wine tasting this last week. We tried:

  1. St. James Winery (St. James, MO)- Winemaker Series Small Batch Chardonel

St. James Winery is the most awarded winery in Missouri. This was a dry white wine with notes of vanilla, pear, pineapple and apricot. It is recommended to pair with chicken, pork, or lamb.

  2. Adam Puchta Winery (Hermann, MO) - Dry Vignoles

Adam Puchta Winery is the oldest, continuously owned family winery in the United States (through 7 generations since 1855). This was an off-dry white wine notes of peach, strawberry & kiwi and a citrus finish. It’s recommended to pair with flavorful food like Cajun shrimp or a Mexican dish.

  3. Stone Hill Winery (Hermann, MO) - Chambourcin

Stone Hill has been around since 1847 and at one point, Stone Hill grew to be the second largest winery in the US! You will smell and taste toffee, black currant and cherry compote, oak and a hint of black pepper. This wine compliments grilled meat, pasta with red sauces, and soft cheeses.

  4. Augusta Winery (Augusta, MO) - Norton

Augusta is recognized as the first U.S. Wine District (beating out Napa Valley) because of its unique soil, climate, historical significance, and quality of wines produced. You will taste raspberry, black cherry and jam. The finishing notes are spice, vanilla and raspberries. This wine would be great with with steak, duck, meaty stews and rich cheeses.

  5. Les Bourgeois Vineyards (Rocheport, MO) - Concord

The views from the bluff over the Missouri River at Les Bourgeois Vineyards and Winery is unmatched. We tried their Concord wine which is a sweet red. This is very reminiscent of grape juice and is an easy drinker!
