Top 5 Series: Heated Patios
Howdy friends! First things first, with the ever-changing restrictions brought on by the pandemic, this list is subject to change at any moment. Just call ahead and double check if you aren’t sure what’s allowed/open! Now back to biz… This is the second installment of my Top 5 Series and it is one that was HIGHLY requested - heated patios! And as a bonus, a few of them even have fun pandemic-friendly events starting this weekend, so mark your calendars. Let me know if I missed any of your faves on the list below!
The Campground - heated outdoor cabins, anyone? Cozy up in a private cabin outside the campground (West Bottoms) with full bar service. First come first served Thursday, and reservations required for Friday. And starting this weekend (11/27) they launch Christkindlmarkt - an outdoor, socially distant, European inspired outdoor market full of local vendors and goodies.
Trezo Mare - Located just north of the river, Trezo Mare has the heated patio thing down to a science! Completely tented and heated throughout, you get the patio atmosphere without any of the weather. Plus when I say this patio is huge, it is HUGE. Plenty of room to space out and feel safe while dining out. Happy hour runs from 3-5 Monday to Friday, so it's the perfect place to post up this Friday afternoon with your besties who came in town for Thanksgiving.
Denver Biscuit Co/Fat Sully's/Atomic Cowboy - The patio here has huge glass garage doors, so you can get the feeling of sitting outside without freezing your tootsies off. Go for breakfast, lunch, dinner, drinks, or dessert - it's like 4 restaurants in one! Plus happy hour is from 3-6 every single day! So go have a $2 PBR and people watch to your heart's content!
Grünauer - This heated patio is changing things up this year! Starting this weekend (11/27) there will be a patio specific menu and pop up vendors, artists, and local makers. I already have my eyes on the fondue for two and the Bärenjäger Toddy (Bärenjäger honey liquor, bourbon, lemon and hot water). My 2020 Euro trip was cancelled, so this is the perfect fix until next year.
Westside Local - One of my very favorite places in Kansas City (especially the patio!). And they will seat on the heated patio as long as it's above 45 degrees! With an everchanging menu, this is a date night spot that never gets old! I just checked out their new winter menu and have my heart set on the Bear's Meow (Citrus infused Gin or Vodka / Apple Honey / Rosemary / Thyme / Lemon / Sparkling Water) and the Jalapeño Jam Burger (1/2 lb brisket blend burger / Bacon / Roasted Jalapeno Cheese Spread / House Made Strawberry Jam / Pickled Jalapeños / Farm-to-Market Brioche). Happy hour from 3-6pm!
